Act to End the Weaponization of Statelessness

No group becomes stateless by accident. Some governments impose statelessness upon groups that are perceived as a threat to their legitimacy by forcibly displacing those groups or revoking their citizenship while other governments perpetuate statelessness among groups that are perceived as a threat to their longevity. In the U.S., for example, an elected official with a highly nationalistic constituency would be unlikely to support DACA for fear of losing the next election. Fortunately, however, that which is done with intentionality can also be undone with intentionality ... and tenacity, and dedication, and passion. That's where you come in. As an advocate for a stateless person or group, you can help reverse the tide of public opinion on a global scale while holding accountable those who weaponize statelessness for political or personal gain.

Advocate Inquiry Form

What type of advocacy is the right fit for you?

At the League of Stateless Nations, we utilize two key types of advocacy: social and legal.

As a social advocate, you'll volunteer your time to become familiar with the plight of the individual or group under your wing, request humanitarian assistance on their behalf, and engage in campaigns to help counter the nationalism and xenophobia that perpetuate statelessness and discrimination throughout much of the world.

As a legal advocate, you'll also volunteer your time to become familiar with the plight of the individual or group under your wing, but your primary foci will be (1) the pursuit of justice for war crimes, basic human rights violations, and other atrocities perpetrated upon your client, and (2) the reporting of any evidence pointing to the intentional weaponization of statelessness by state or non-state actors.

If neither of these options is your cup of tea, don't be shy about letting us know how you'd like to participate in our mission. We're always open to creative ideas.

Thank you for your interest!

Please complete the form below and we'll respond to your inquiry within two business days.
